This style inspector setting lets you show and hide elements. You can switch between visible, hidden and collapsed.

You can also use the display pop-over from the style bar.

You can specify the painting order within a container. Elements with a higher z-index are behind later and show up above other elements with a lower z-index.

Independent of the hierarchy and layout, paint above all paints the object above all other elements. This is especially useful for pop-up menus.
